Last post was almost 2 weeks ago!
I recently spoke to a friend who says she just doesn’t have time to update her blog. I completely understand now!
It’s been manic here at Chateaux Saunders.
Our Kitchen has finally been finished. Phew. It was never a walk in the park and I was completely naive to think that it was ever going to be. I faultered at Day 3.
I didn’t realise because I wanted a huge oven the electrics would need moving. (Obviously) In the end they all needed moving. We also had a leak from our bathroom sink into the kitchen which became prominent when we started ripping back all the plasterboard off the Lintle on the extension.
Said sink has been out of order for 2 weeks, cleaning toothpaste up after Ella brushing her teeth over the bath is wearing thin now. Life troubles eh!
Water pipes were moved. Gas pipes extended. I am just greatfull it wasn’t serious building work. We lived for 5 weeks with our new American fridge freezer in the lounge. She became part of the furniture (blocked an awful lot of light) but we finally moved her yesterday. Who knew my Dining area was so big!
The kitchen is slowly being painted and the next fun part is accessories. Black and copper against a Jade green wall. Should look smart and as Dave says “Adult”
Me and Dave also went on a 48 hour sabbatical from Adult life to the Cotswolds last weekend.
We just needed a break and to spend time together.
It was in a little village called Quenington. Very picturesque and chocolate boxy.
Within an hour of arriving I fell asleep and slept for 2 hours. The cottage was surrounded by trees so the birdsong and fresh air must of lulled me to sleep.
I did not cook at all and it was bliss. In the evening we went to the local pub. I thought we might get that stare of your not local but they were so welcoming. In fact the pub was called The Keepers Inn and was featured on Channel 4’s Four in a Bed. So I guess they had to be. The food was amazing and I did get very tiddly one evening.
We also popped into Cirencester where I sold a kidney to buy some Copper fruit bowls for the kitchen. They are soooo shiny though! The shop was called Maison Imports and it had everything I wanted or as Dave said “More things for you to dust”
Why are Men so practical?
We arrived back to Earth with a bang on the Sunday as we had to clear out our bedroom ready for fitted wardrobes. No problems there at all and they are stunning. They have made the room look a little narrower but there is literally nowhere for clutter to build (unless hidden). We have quite an expanse at the bottom of our bed so I’m thinking a long footstool, rug and a free standing mirror.
I also love the indoor plant craze at the moment so a plant WILL feature somewhere.
Through all this it’s been half term and the need to occupy our busy, chatty girl. I’m convinced she wakes up and injects herself with sugar before entering our room. She has no end of boundless energy everyday!
Last week I worked so she stayed with Nanny. This week I’m off so we’ve scheduled play dates.
We went to the library and to the local pet shop. She’s dying for a pet. Any pet. Ella looked at the geckos and the lizards. She called me over to a chameleon. ( Which I admit was cute!)
“Mum looks like Pascal from Tangled”
“Yes, it does”
“You love Pascal, I bet you could love this chameleon even more”
Top marks for trying kid!
One day we might get a pet but at the moment I’m not prepared to take on another responsibility.
I will upload all pics soon!
